Should I buy ".com" (dotcom) or is a country code extension okay?
The best domain extension is ".com" everyone world-wide is familiar with it and every search engine picks it up for listing. If you live in the United States ".com" is preferable but .net, .org, .us, .info, .tv and .biz are fine, they all show up in search engine listings. County code listings other than ".us" are not recommended for sites trying to attract American visitors because they don't show up often in U.S. searches. Do a Google search for anything and see what sites show up. Not many ".cc" or ".ca" sites show up. The exception may be ".tv" the country code extension for Tuvalu but overall the only country code extension good for U.S. sites is ".us" however if you live in Canada ".ca" would be just as good if you only want Canadian traffic. Remember a ".com" domain will bring in traffic from various search engines where as country code extensions mainly bring in traffic from their own country. So if you buy a domain with country code extension make sure it is for the country you live in, otherwise your site may not get listed by the search engines you expected.

You could buy a domain name for as little as $9.99 but don't expect it to increase your business, in fact a cheap domain may hurt your business. Skimping on the domain may cost you more money in the long run on lost customers.
